ICARIA
Icaria are a flute and harp duo based in London. Helena and Catherine met whilst studying at the Royal Academy of Music and have quickly established themselves as a versatile duo. Although forming only recently, they endeavour to push the boundaries of the flute and harp framework, collaborate with other musicians and creatives and build up a regular concert schedule. They were recently chosen as Tunnell Trust prize award winners, allowing them to go on tour giving concerts throughout Scotland. As an ensemble, they have a keen interest in contemporary music and have both taken part in the London Sinfonietta academy. They were recently chosen to premiere a new work by Richard Bissill for flute and two harps which they recorded and performed throughout London. As individuals they have worked with the Nash ensemble, the Philharmonia, English National Ballet, Welsh National Opera, St. Petersburg Ballet, Birmingham Royal Ballet, Royal Opera House orchestra and the Halle.
